Bart Lodder

Field Worker – Manager of Monitoring & Development

I have been living in Malawi with my wife Leneke and daughter Joos, since April 2021. Before that, I worked for Timotheos from the Netherlands. Now in Malawi, as Manager of Monitoring & Development, I am dedicated to ensuring the quality and ongoing development of our programs and projects.

Care, Education, and Spiritual Nourishment for Malawians
From a young age, I felt drawn to mission and development work. Growing up in a close-knit (entrepreneurial) family consisting of my parents, one brother, and two younger brothers, I pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration after high school. Shortly after graduating, I traveled to Malawi to volunteer for Timotheos.

From October 2017 to December 2018, I conducted research on the necessity and feasibility of establishing a secondary school for Timotheos. During this time, I also took on various side tasks and gained valuable insights into the work of Timotheos in Malawi.

I joined Timotheos as a fundraiser and educator in the Netherlands in January 2019. At the end of 2020, I traveled to Malawi to provide assistance following a specific situation. What was initially intended to be a two-month assignment turned into four months. Following this, the board asked if I would remain in Malawi to work as a program manager. With the organizational restructuring in 2024, this role transitioned to Manager of Monitoring & Development.

In addition to overseeing the quality and development of our programs and projects, I am part of the management team led by Gerrit Oomen. Altogether, we are responsible for the overall direction of the operations in Malawi.

Timotheos is a remarkable organization. Alongside dozens of Malawians, Gerrit Oomen, Bep Klok, and Janneke Duerink, we dedicate ourselves daily to providing a hopeful future for hundreds of children and young people. This is our responsibility in the place where the Lord has called us to serve. At the same time, we must pray that these children and young people do not reach out solely to those trying to alleviate their (temporally) distressful lives but that they reach out to God (Psalm 68:32). Only then can it truly be said: "From (spiritually) distressful poverty to a Hopeful existence!"
